Pawan Kalyan Defends Ticket Hikes at Game Changer Event
Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, attended the pre-release event of Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’ in Rajahmundry this evening, delivering a powerful speech on the intersection of politics and cinema in the Telugu states. He focused particularly on the issue of ticket prices, defending the recent hikes as a necessary move in response to the growing budgets and standards in Telugu cinema. Pawan Kalyan explained that ticket prices function based on the principles of demand and supply, with the increasing market for Telugu films justifying the adjustments. He also pointed out that the government benefits from the Goods and Services Tax (GST) collected on these higher ticket prices.
Addressing the controversy surrounding ticket price hikes, Pawan Kalyan cited the example of his own film, ‘Bheemla Nayak’, which faced difficulties due to an unfair reduction in prices. He rejected the false narratives being spread about ticket pricing and emphasized that the hike was in the best interest of both the industry and the government.
Pawan Kalyan also took the opportunity to clarify the stance of the NDA government regarding the film industry. He asserted that there is no political bias against any film star, despite some stars not supporting the NDA during elections. He strongly stated that movies and politics should remain separate entities, ensuring that cinema is treated with respect and not politicized.
Pawan also criticized certain political parties for pressuring film stars to approach them for film-related incentives, asserting that those who understand the complexities of filmmaking should speak on the industry’s behalf, not politicians. He concluded by praising Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his unwavering support for the Telugu film industry during his tenures.
