Is ‘Maa2’ The Right Film For Katrina Kaif’s Comeback?

Bollywood star Katrina Kaif is reportedly gearing up to return to the big screen after a long break. Following her marriage to Vicky Kaushal, the actress took time away from films to focus on her personal life. Now, reports suggest that she could make her comeback with Maa 2, the sequel to Kajol’s horror film Maa.

The news has sparked curiosity, but it has also raised a key question: Is Maa 2 the right comeback vehicle for a star like Katrina?

Released in 2025, Maa generated initial buzz due to its connection with Shaitaan and its horror- mythology setting. However, the film failed to make a major impact at the box office, with its weak writing and VFX drawing criticism.

While horror franchises such as Stree and Munjya have found success, Maa has yet to establish a similar impact. Katrina, who has previously featured in big-ticket films alongside stars like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, choosing this franchise for her comeback is therefore an interesting move.

That said, if Maa 2 delivers a stronger story, improved VFX and better execution, it could still turn out to be a promising comeback for Katrina.
