Actor Vijay Deverakonda stated that he considers anti-drug advocacy a personal responsibility. He participated as a guest in an awareness event organized by the Telangana state government on Thursday, marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event was also attended by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and actor Ram Charan.

Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Deverakonda said, “I live in my own world and often don’t know much about what’s happening outside. While I was shooting in Visakhapatnam, a police officer asked me to give a video (statement) against drugs. I took part in that campaign. Later, I came to know that there’s actually an International Day against Drugs, which surprised me. When I asked a few police officers, they explained more about it. After learning the details, I felt a strong need to create awareness among people about this addiction. That’s why I’m now taking up anti-drug campaigning as a personal responsibility.”

“You don’t need a war to destroy a country getting its youth addicted to drugs is enough. Our country has a huge youth population, and that’s why some forces are trying to push drugs onto our youth. Once someone becomes addicted, it’s very hard to recover. If any of your friends are addicted to drugs, stay away from them. In life, what truly matters is health, money, and respect. There’s no point in doing things that can’t give you these. We should live in a way that brings pride to our parents.” He emphasized the importance of staying drug-free and promoting awareness to protect the nation’s future.
