Suryas, a new director, is helming the film Chethabadi under the Sri Sharada Ramana Creations banner, produced by Nanda Kishore. The film is based on real incidents.

Director Suryas said that Chethabadi (black magic/witchcraft) is an art form that originated in India in the 16th century. “If two countries want to fight or make peace with each other, they need to have strength and power. But Chethabadi is a practice that uses an evil energy to prevent people from uniting and even to kill them. Many films have already shown how terrifying it can be. We are showing the same art from a different angle. Every part of our body has life, even hair. This film is based on the concept of hair energy. The story is based on a real incident that occurred in 1953 in a village called Girida. In a village called Seeleru, 200 years ago, bamboo groves were extremely thick. Even when it rained, they wouldn’t sink into the ground. We are going to show what happens when a live black chicken is placed in such soil and ‘banamathi’ (a type of black magic) is performed on an Amavasya day.”

Producer Nanda Kishore stated, “Once upon a time, the fear of banamathi (black magic) led to political, social, and psychological problems. In our film Chethabadi, we are going to realistically show those who exploited the gullibility of people.”
