Zandu Balm Launches #UndoWithZandu Campaign to Connect with Gen Z’s Modern-Day “Peedas”
Iconic Ayurvedic pain relief brand Zandu Balm, from the house of Emami Ltd, has launched a fresh culture-led campaign titled #UndoWithZandu. Aimed at resonating with 16 to 28-year-old consumers, the initiative reinterprets traditional aches and everyday discomfort through a contemporary lens, addressing modern frustrations like tech neck, doomscrolling fatigue, career burnout, and digital-era stress.
Peedaland and Contemporary Storytelling:
At the creative core of the campaign is “Peedaland,” a surreal setting where young protagonists navigate the unique physical and mental friction points of a hyper-connected lifestyle. A vivacious lead character guides them out of these challenges using a straightforward solution: “Peeda ko karo Undo with Zandu.” Developed in collaboration with Tree Communications and Abbas Mirza, the campaign seeks to expand the traditional definition of peeda beyond physical strain to encapsulate modern lifestyle annoyances while highlighting the product’s instant efficacy.
Strategic Brand Evolution and Leadership Insights:
Speaking on the launch, Mr. Mohan Goenka, Director at Emami Limited, noted that while Zandu Balm has historically shaped popular culture most notably through its integration with iconic pop-culture moments the core challenge for a heritage brand is continuously earning cultural relevance rather than just preserving it.
Operating within India’s robust topical pain relief and rubefacient sector, where balms account for a significant market share, the brand aims to build the same foundational trust with younger generations that it enjoyed with previous ones. The multi-media campaign is rolling out across television, digital platforms, OTT, and social media channels in key priority markets, including Maharashtra, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.
