Tata Motors and Welspun Renewable Energy Partner for 86 MW Wind-Solar Hybrid Project
Tata Motors Ltd. has entered into a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Welspun Renewable Energy Private Limited (WREPL) to co-develop an 86 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project. This initiative is designed to provide a reliable supply of green energy exclusively to four of Tata Motors’ manufacturing facilities located in Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Karnataka. The project is projected to generate 200 million units of clean electricity annually and offset over 1.4 lakh tons of CO₂ emissions each year.
Sustainability Goals and Impact:
This partnership serves as a significant milestone in Tata Motors’ sustainability roadmap, directly supporting the company’s RE100 target by 2030 and advancing its ambition to achieve net-zero emissions. By integrating wind and solar power, the project will help catalyze the clean energy transition across Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle manufacturing operations.
