Sprint for a Cause NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026 Launches Charity Bibs for 15th Edition
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Runners Society (HRS) has officially kicked off the philanthropic countdown for the 15th Edition of the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon 2026 by launching its celebrated Charity Bib initiative. The announcement, made today at a press conference at the FTCCI in Lakdikapool, underscores the event’s growing legacy of blending athletic excellence with deep-rooted social responsibility.
Running with a Purpose:
The Charity Bib program serves as a bridge between the racing community and social welfare, allowing participants to dedicate their miles to meaningful causes. This year, the initiative has already seen a massive surge in interest, with 35 NGOs onboarded to leverage the marathon’s platform for fundraising and awareness.
By opting for a Charity Bib, runners ranging from individual enthusiasts to corporate teams can raise funds for diverse sectors including education, healthcare, environmental conservation, and community development.
A Record-Breaking Inspiration:
The launch was graced by elite athlete Sawan Barwal, who recently etched his name in history by shattering a 48-year-old national record at the Rotterdam Marathon with a staggering time of 2:11:58.
Addressing the media, Barwal reflected on the transformative power of the sport.
“Running is a personal journey, but when you run for a cause, it becomes a collective movement. The culture of long-distance running in India is evolving, and events like the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon are pivotal in showing that fitness can be a vehicle for profound social change.”
More Than Just a Race:
Representatives of the Hyderabad Runners Society emphasized that the marathon has matured far beyond a 42.2-kilometer test of endurance. It is now a cornerstone of the city’s social fabric. The 15th edition aims to scale its impact significantly, inviting the citizenry to contribute to the goal of “purpose-driven running.”
As one of India’s premier marathon events, the NMDC Hyderabad Marathon continues to set benchmarks not just for its challenging course and world-class organization, but for its heart. With 35 NGOs ready to hit the ground running, the 2026 edition is set to be the most impactful one yet.
How to Participate:
Interested runners and corporate entities can register for Charity Bibs through the official NMDC Hyderabad Marathon website, choosing their preferred NGO partner to support as they train for the big day.
