Mahindra Farm Equipment Crosses Historic Production Milestone of 70 Lakh Tractors
Mahindra Farm Equipment Business (FEB), a core division of the Mahindra Group and the world’s largest tractor manufacturer by volume, has officially surpassed a monumental production milestone of 70 lakh farm tractors. This achievement marks a defining moment in the company’s decades-long journey of driving rural mechanization and fostering agricultural prosperity for millions of farmers across India and international markets.
A Diverse Brand Portfolio and Deep Industrial Footprint
Mahindra FEB builds, develops, and markets its diverse product range under three distinct brand umbrellas: Mahindra Tractors, Swaraj Tractors, and Gromax (the manufacturer behind the Trakstar and Hindustan tractor lines). To meet localized farming challenges, the conglomerate offers one of the agricultural industry’s most expansive portfolios, consisting of more than 350 models and variants. This machinery is heavily complemented by a rapidly growing suite of both tractor-driven and self-propelled specialized farm equipment.
The brands represent a rich history of indigenous manufacturing and engineering excellence:
Mahindra Tractors: Founded in 1963, it stands as India’s number one tractor brand. Its manufacturing infrastructure spans major facilities in Mumbai, Nagpur, Zaheerabad, Rudrapur, Jaipur, and Rajkot, with primary research and development (R&D) centered at the Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) in Chennai.
Swaraj Tractors: Formerly known as Punjab Tractors Ltd., Swaraj is India’s second-largest tractor brand and has emerged as one of the country’s fastest-growing players over the past decade. Credited with developing India’s very first completely indigenous tractor in 1974, Swaraj maintains a massive operational presence in Mohali through dedicated manufacturing plants, a foundry, and localized R&D centers.
Gromax Agri Equipment Ltd.: Operating out of Vadodara as India’s premier regional tractor brand, Gromax is structured as a 60:40 joint venture between Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and the Government of Gujarat.
Surging Sales and Future Product Pipeline
The production milestone is backed by immense market momentum. Mahindra FEB achieved record-breaking annual tractor sales of over 526,000 units in the 2026 fiscal year (FY26). This commercial growth was accelerated by highly successful product launches, including the Mahindra 585 YUVO TECH+ V1, the Mahindra NOVO Premium Edition, and the Swaraj Protek series, alongside the aggressive global expansion of the Mahindra OJA platform. Looking ahead into FY27, the company has finalized plans to introduce 7 entirely new tractor models and 12 advanced feature upgrades across its flagship Mahindra and Swaraj Protek lineups.
Leadership Perspectives on Nation-Building
Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO of the Auto & Farm Equipment Business (AFS) at M&M Ltd., framed the milestone within India’s broader macroeconomic trajectory. He noted that as India progresses toward its vision of “Viksit Bharat,” transforming agriculture remains absolutely central to sustainable nation-building. He expressed pride in Mahindra’s role in strengthening rural communities and supporting long-term national development.
Veejay Nakra, President of the Farm Equipment Business at M&M Ltd., added that the 70 lakh milestone reflects deep-rooted farmer trust earned over decades of delivering tough, reliable, and productivity-driven machinery. Nakra re-emphasized Mahindra’s ultimate corporate mission to transform the lives of farmers globally by making sophisticated technology highly accessible and field-relevant.
With an active commercial presence spanning more than 50 international markets, Mahindra FEB remains the undisputed global volume leader in the tractor industry. The United States represents the company’s second-largest market after India, backed by over 30 years of operational history and two dedicated domestic assembly facilities. Moving forward, the firm is leveraging digital integration, engineering rigor, and deep field insights to develop comprehensive Smart Agri Machinery solutions covering the entire agricultural value chain from initial land preparation to post-harvest management.
