Lam Research Launches Skill Development Program in India to Boost Advanced Manufacturing Talent

Lam Research Corp. (Nasdaq: LRCX) has introduced the Lam Research Skill Development Program in India as a strategic corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative designed to equip individuals from disadvantaged communities with industry-relevant skills for advanced manufacturing roles. As India expands its technology-driven manufacturing clusters across sectors like electronics, aerospace, and semiconductors, the program aims to strengthen the local talent pipeline, enhance job readiness, and foster more inclusive workplaces. The pilot rollout officially commenced in Bengaluru in May 2026, with beneficiary outreach and training actively underway.

Aligned with NSQF Level 3 under the Capital Goods Skill Council, the program is administered through an implementation partner that delivers a 240-hour intensive curriculum tailored for assembly line operator positions. Key components cover electronics and mechanical assembly fundamentals, shop floor manufacturing processes, quality and inspection practices, safety and compliance, and essential employability skills. Upon successful completion, participants receive an industry-recognized certification affiliated with the National Skill Development Council (NSDC), alongside dedicated placement support.

Rangesh Raghavan, corporate vice president and managing director of Lam Research India, emphasized that the initiative invests in local talent by providing practical skills and employment pathways for historically underserved groups. This program builds upon Lam Research’s broader workforce development efforts in India, which include a landmark partnership with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) to utilize Lam’s Semiverse® Solutions software suite, bringing virtual fabrication and simulation learning to university engineering students.
