IBM and MeitY Startup Hub Partner to Accelerate Deep-Tech Innovation and Enterprise AI in India
IBM and MeitY Startup Hub (MSH), an initiative under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing India’s deep-tech startup ecosystem. By combining MSH’s nationwide startup network with IBM’s technological capabilities in enterprise AI, hybrid cloud, and quantum computing, the partnership is designed to enable high-potential startups to build, validate, and scale technologies for domestic and global markets. This collaboration complements IBM Ventures’ existing engagements in India, creating direct channels for enterprise-focused startups to connect with corporate customers, investors, and industry experts via a capital-plus model.
Technology Platforms and Key Operational Focus:
As part of the initiative, startups will gain access to IBM’s suite of enterprise solutions, innovation platforms, and technical guidance to solve real-world business challenges across sectors like banking, finance, government, and industrial manufacturing. The agreement includes:
Enterprise Technologies: Access to IBM watsonx (AI and data platform), IBM Bob (AI coding agent), IBM Sovereign Core (digital sovereignty software stack), along with technical orientation on hybrid cloud, quantum computing, security, and automation.
Core Initiatives: Focus on enterprise proofs-of-concept (PoCs), sovereign AI innovation, open-source ecosystem development, founder mentorship, and technical skilling programs.
Regional Inclusion: A major priority of the program will be identifying, nurturing, and supporting promising innovators from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, ensuring broader geographical access to India’s deep-tech network.
