Cognizant Concludes Technoverse Hackathon 2026 to Empower India’s Next Generation of AI Builders

PUNE : Cognizant (NASDAQ: CTSH) has successfully concluded the Cognizant® Technoverse Hackathon 2026, marking a significant milestone in its mission to cultivate a future-ready workforce. The grand finale, held at the company’s Pune facility, celebrated the ingenuity of India’s top engineering talent following a grueling competition that spanned over 160 cities.

The hackathon attracted more than 22,000 pre-final year students from over 450 prestigious institutions, including IITs, NITs, and IIITs. Highlighting a major win for diversity in the tech sector, 62 percent of the participants were women, with over 1,100 all-female teams competing at the highest level.

Driving Inclusion and Innovation:
Cognizant’s mandate for the event required at least two women per four-member team, a benchmark that was vastly surpassed by the final registration numbers. The top five hubs of participation were identified as Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, and Pune.

The 24-Hour Final Challenge:
After initial rounds began in April, the field was narrowed down to 24 elite teams. These finalists engaged in a high-intensity 24-hour hackathon to build and present Minimum Viable Products (MVPs). To ensure the students had access to industry-standard resources, Cognizant partnered with AWS, providing the cloud environment and cutting-edge tools necessary to bring their AI concepts to life.

The Winners’ Circle:
The jury awarded the top honors to teams that demonstrated exceptional technical skill and real-world applicability. Team AeroFyta from Chennai Institute of Technology emerged as the overall winner, securing the grand prize worth INR 3,00,000. They were followed by the first runner-up, Team Owlgorithms from Techno Main Salt Lake, Kolkata, who received INR 2,00,000, and the second runner-up, Team Devtronix from Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, Coimbatore, who took home INR 1,00,000.

The Technoverse Hackathon is part of Cognizant’s broader strategy to embed GenAI expertise across the talent pipeline.
