Center Has No Proposal to Blend Ethanol With ATF

Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu has firmly clarified that there is no proposal under the central government’s consideration to blend ethanol with Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF). He completely refuted the recent allegations made by former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal regarding the matter. Naidu dismissed the claims that the government is planning to mix ethanol with jet fuel as entirely false and baseless, emphasizing that spreading misinformation regarding aviation safety creates unnecessary panic among the public. He reiterated that passenger safety remains the absolute top priority for the central government.

Providing technical clarity on the issue that sparked the controversy, the minister explained that ethanol and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) are two entirely different types of fuel. He highlighted that SAF is a specialized aviation fuel recognized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and is strictly certified in accordance with global safety standards. SAF is authorized for use only after undergoing rigorous testing procedures, making any comparison between SAF and regular ethanol factually incorrect. Naidu concluded by urging that discussions concerning the aviation sector should be grounded in facts, calling the spread of false propaganda regarding flight safety highly irresponsible.
