Axis Bank and Hitachi Payment Services Unveil AI-Powered ‘Express Banking 2.0’ and ‘AI Soundbox’
Axis Bank has partnered with Hitachi Payment Services to introduce two AI-driven solutions: Express Banking: Digital Banking Point 2.0 and the AI Soundbox. Unveiled on September 11, 2026, in Mumbai, these offerings integrate conversational intelligence into everyday financial services to make banking and merchant transactions more intuitive, accessible, and connected.
Express Banking: Digital Banking Point 2.0:
Building on the original Digital Banking Point launched at the Global Fintech Fest 2025, Version 2.0 embeds conversational AI into the physical banking space. Previous deployments across high-footfall campuses such as IIM Ahmedabad, Lovely Professional University, Capgemini, and Sattva Knowledge City have already validated a scalable 24/7 branch-lite model that brings banking closer to customers where they study and work. Customers can communicate via natural language with multilingual capabilities to navigate services, fill out, validate, and complete forms without manually switching between multiple screens. Furthermore, the platform incorporates responsible AI principles and built-in guardrails to keep interactions secure and relevant, supporting self-service and assisted modes for account opening, instant card issuance, fixed deposit booking, loan applications, utility bill payments, cheque deposits, and passbook printing while seamlessly integrating with Hitachi Payment Services’ Android-based Cash Recycling Machines (CRMs).
AI Soundbox: Intelligent Voice Assistant for Merchants:
The AI Soundbox transforms standard payment notification devices into voice-enabled intelligent assistants for merchants. With the press of a button, merchants can ask payment-related questions, such as inquiring about their total sales value for the day, and receive instant voice responses across 12 Indian languages. The device brings proactive intelligence to merchant counters by dynamically adapting to the environment, optimizing power and connectivity, and independently identifying and resolving select operational disruptions to prevent missed sales.
