Amazon Data Center Skilling Program Celebrates Fourth Graduating Cohort in Telangana
HYDERABAD: Marking a significant milestone in India’s tech-education landscape, the fourth cohort of 51 students has successfully graduated from the Amazon Data Center Skilling Program. The graduation ceremony, held at Vardhaman Engineering College in Shamshabad, celebrates a program that has now trained over 200 candidates in the specialized field of data center operations.
Building the Backbone of Cloud Infrastructure
As India’s reliance on cloud and AI services accelerates, the need for skilled professionals to manage the physical and digital infrastructure powering these technologies has reached an all-time high. The graduating students completed an intensive curriculum focused on two core pillars:
Critical Facilities Operations Management (CFOM): Focusing on the physical infrastructure and power systems that keep data centers running.
Critical Compute Operations (CCOps): Providing technical expertise in managing the server and compute environments within the cloud.
The ceremony was attended by Mr. Kovuri Pavan Kumar, Executive Director of the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TGIIC), who served as the Guest of Honor.
Investing in India’s Digital Future
The skilling program is a key component of Amazon Web Services (AWS)’s broader investment strategy in India. With two existing cloud regions in Mumbai and Hyderabad, AWS has committed to investing $12.7 billion in Indian cloud infrastructure by 2030.
“Building a robust talent pipeline to support data center infrastructure has never been more important,” said Saji PK, Director of Data Center Operations (APJC) at AWS. “These graduates represent the future of our industry, and I look forward to seeing them drive innovation and operational excellence.”
A Global Commitment to Skilling
Beyond this specific cohort, AWS has been a prolific driver of digital literacy in the region, having trained more than 7 million individuals in India since 2017. Through initiatives like AWS Skill Builder, AWS Educate, and AWS re/Start, the company is creating accessible pathways for individuals from diverse backgrounds to enter the technology sector.
By equipping students in Telangana with hands-on experience, the Data Center Skilling Program not only provides career opportunities for local youth but also strengthens the state’s position as a premier hub for digital infrastructure and innovation in the Asia-Pacific region.
