Sricity International University Launches Innovative ‘Work-Study’ Model
Tirupati : Sricity International University (SIU) officially commenced operations today, marking a transformative milestone in Indian higher education. The university was inaugurated at its interim campus by the Hon’ble Minister for HRD, IT, E&C, and RTG, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Lokesh Nara, in the presence of key industry partners and the university’s governing leadership.
Addressing the ‘Bharat Employability and Jobs Challenge’:
The launch of SIU serves as a direct response to the national challenge regarding graduate employability. With India producing over nine million graduates annually, data suggests that only 42.6% are considered employable, while more than 80% of employers report significant skill deficiencies. SIU aims to rectify this by ensuring that every graduating student possesses industry-relevant skills from the moment they enter the workforce.
A Revolutionary Work-Study Dual Model:
At the heart of SIU’s pedagogy is the “Work-Study Dual Model,” a curriculum designed to integrate academic learning with practical experience. Under this system:
Students dedicate approximately one-third of their time to on-campus learning and the remaining two-thirds to internships with industry partners.
Internships are paid from the first year, with students receiving a minimum monthly stipend of ₹10,000, which is expected to increase alongside their productivity.
By the completion of a four-year degree, students will have accrued over two years of professional work experience.
The curriculum, which is co-created with industry partners, undergoes annual updates to ensure it remains aligned with the rapidly evolving AI-driven industrial environment.
Cultivating an Entrepreneurial Ecosystem:
Beyond standard employment preparation, SIU is fostering a culture of innovation through its on-campus incubation center, “Station-S”. Supported by Gnan Circle Ventures, a Cat-I Venture Capital Fund, the center has already facilitated the launch of approximately 10 startups. According to Srini Raju, Chairman of the Sricity Education Foundation and the SIU Governing Board, this dual focus on industry-aligned skills and an entrepreneurial mindset provides students with a robust foundation for their future careers.
Strategic Advantage and Academic Offerings:
The university’s location in Sri City provides a unique environment for this model, with over 200 companies from more than 30 countries operating in the immediate vicinity. Minister Nara Lokesh noted that Andhra Pradesh is proud to lead the nation in solving the employability challenge by hosting an institution that effectively leverages this industrial ecosystem.
For the 2026–27 academic year, SIU is accepting applications for the following undergraduate programs:
B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering
B.Tech in Advanced Manufacturing
BBA in Finance & Accounts
BBA in Digital Media & Communications
