Sri City Strengthens Green Vision with Sustainable Initiatives

Following recent discussions with Dr. P. Krishnaiah, I.A.S. (Retd.), Chairman of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), Sri City engaged with industrial units to reinforce sustainable resource management. Emphasising the Circular Economy principles—Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle—the focus remains on minimising environmental impact. All housing, commercial, civic, and industrial projects must incorporate 90% M-Sand, restricting river sand use to just 10% for plastering. Additionally, to curb dependence on external soil procurement, cut-and-fill operations within designated plots will be promoted. Sri City will also oversee soil redistribution to address water-logging, ensuring sustainable land development.
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder & Managing Director, Sri City, reaffirmed Sri City’s commitment to sustainability, stating, “Sri City remains steadfast in advancing its Green City vision through responsible resource management and eco-friendly initiatives. By embracing Circular Economy principles, we are implementing measures that drive sustainable industrial growth.” Highlighting the broader vision, he added, “From renewable energy expansion and water conservation to zero-waste policies and extensive green belt development, sustainability is deeply embedded in Sri City’s growth strategy.”
As part of its broader sustainability efforts, Sri City is expanding renewable energy adoption, promoting large-scale rainwater harvesting, water recycling, and groundwater conservation, encouraging zero-waste policies and industrial symbiosis, and maintaining a green belt covering over 40% of its area. Additionally, Sri City is driving the transition to low-carbon infrastructure and green building standards, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship.
To further accelerate clean energy adoption, Sri City is facilitating the availability of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) through AG&P’s pipeline network. As a cost-effective and eco-friendly alternative, CNG enhances product quality, reduces operational costs, and eliminates hazardous waste like coal ash. Industrial units are strongly encouraged to transition to CNG at the earliest to maximise these benefits.
As India’s premier sustainable industrial hub, Sri City remains committed to balancing industrial growth with environmental responsibility, ensuring a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
