Ensures Robust Power Infrastructure, and Commits to Industrial Growth and Sustainability
Hon’ble Minister for Energy, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Gottipati Ravikumar, visited Sri City on Wednesday. Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, Managing Director, Sri City warmly received and gave him a brief presentation on Sri city and highlighted the ongoing developments.
Accompanied by APSPDCL CMD Mr. Shivsankar Lotheti, IAS, and APTRANSCO Director (Grid & Transmission) Mr. Bhaskar, the Minister held an interactive meeting with industry representatives and Sri City management to discuss the key issues related to power stability and the need for strengthening power infrastructure in the industrial hub.
Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy emphasised the pressing need to fast‑track the commissioning of APTRANSCO’s 132/33 KV substation at Kolladam/Sri City. With industries such as LG Electronics, Carrier, and PG Electroplast nearing operational readiness, uninterrupted power is critical. He also underscored the strategic imperative of establishing an additional substation near the Japanese cluster, in view of Sri City’s expansion and growing international presence. Highlighting investor confidence, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy noted that industries in Sri City contribute nearly ₹500 crore annually in electricity revenues, while generating substantial employment opportunities and delivering significant GST inflows to the State exchequer, and national GDP. He emphasised that strengthening power infrastructure will further reinforce Andhra Pradesh’s industrial growth trajectory and sustain its appeal as a competitive investment destination.
Industry representatives from Imop, Thermax, Isuzu, Kobelco, Axeelent Pharma, Brakes India, Aisan, and others urged to ensure minimum interruptions and maximum reliability and stability. Their concerns included the need for solar tariff adjustments, approval to expand installation capacity, persistent issues with 11 KV line interruptions, and green tariff incentives for rooftop solar generation to encourage sustainability.
The Hon’ble Minister praised Sri City’s proactive approach in facilitating consumer interactions, assuring quality power, tariff reduction, and prompt resolution of issues to support reliable infrastructure. Mr. Bhaskar emphasised reducing interruptions and suggested additional switching stations, while Mr. Shivsankar announced monthly industry meetings, preliminary work on an additional substation along with infrastructure, and clarified that green tariff incentives would be addressed at policy level.
Sri City MD and industry representatives conveyed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Minister and senior officials for their proactive engagement, attentive hearing of concerns, and positive assurances. They appreciated the constructive response as a step toward strengthening reliable power infrastructure, enhancing speed of doing business, and reinforcing investor confidence in Sri City’s industrial growth and sustainability.
