PM Modi Thanks Citizens for Practicing Austerity Measures
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the citizens of the country for heedfully practicing austerity measures upon his call, against the backdrop of tensions in West Asia. The Prime Minister made these remarks during his 135th Mann Ki Baat radio program. PM Modi noted that citizens have reduced gold purchases alongside implementing other savings measures. He also mentioned that many people have postponed their foreign trips, and expressed his happiness over how Indians are unitedly facing a global-scale crisis.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi further stated that India has already achieved numerous milestones on its path toward self-reliance. He highlighted the operationalization of the first indigenous C-295 aircraft as a testament to this progress, adding that it would contribute significantly to strengthening India’s aerospace sector. Along with this C-295 aircraft, another 40 aircraft are being manufactured within the country, which is also empowering small and medium-scale industries and creating new employment opportunities.
Additionally, he advised the youth to give greater priority to sports, stating that Nagaland serves as an inspiration in this regard. He mentioned that the ‘Nagaland Baby League’ is being run in the state, inspiring children aged between 5 and 12 to incline toward sports. Similarly, he noted that the ‘Women’s Futsal League’ is also being organized in Nagaland. Acknowledging that the term “Futsal” might sound new to many, he described it as an excellent platform to bring out the talent in young girls.
The Prime Minister also noted that progress is being made in environmental conservation. He commended biologist Purnima Devi Barman, who put in extraordinary efforts to dispel misconceptions among some people in Assam regarding the ‘Hargila’ bird (Greater Adjutant Stork), which is crucial for environmental protection. PM Modi pointed out that those who once considered the bird an ill omen are now actively taking measures to conserve it.
