Citizens Specialty Hospitals Launches “Don’t Miss a Beat. Be an Informed Citizen” Campaign for World Heart Day
On the occasion of World Heart Day 2026, Citizens Specialty Hospitals, Nallagandla (Hyderabad), has reinforced its commitment to preventive cardiac health and emergency preparedness through its newly launched campaign, “Don’t Miss a Beat. Be an Informed Citizen”. Driven by senior cardiology experts including Dr. Ramakrishna Janapati, Dr. Sandeep Khambhampati, and cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Giridhar H, the hospital is addressing the rising prevalence of cardiovascular diseases among the working-age population. Over the past year, the institution has extended its outreach beyond clinical walls, conducting more than 1,350 Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training sessions across residential communities, schools, workplaces, and neighborhood associations to empower everyday citizens as confident first responders.
Introduction of ‘E-Heart, Citizens’ WhatsApp Community:
Complementing its hands-on training workshops, the hospital has introduced E-Heart, Citizens, a specialized WhatsApp community designed to bridge the communication gap between stakeholders and medical experts. This digital platform connects doctors, corporate HR focal points (SPOCs), and executive committee members directly with the hospital’s cardiology team. The initiative aims to streamline access to rapid cardiac guidance, facilitate timely clinical opinions, and foster stronger collaboration among healthcare providers and community leaders during medical exigencies.
Leadership Perspectives on Community Preparedness:
Highlighting the critical nature of timely interventions, Dr. Prabhakar Palacharla, Vice President & Regional Chief Operating Officer at Citizens Specialty Hospital & American Oncology Institute South, emphasized that every minute counts during a cardiac emergency. He noted that equipping citizens with the ability to recognize warning signs, call for prompt medical assistance, and administer basic life support significantly improves survival outcomes. Through structured training modules and accessible communication channels like E-Heart, Citizens Specialty Hospitals continues to build robust community-level response capabilities, ensuring that individuals are prepared to act when every heartbeat matters.
