Senior Advocate Kausalya Navaratna Assumed Duties as the 27th President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka

Addressing the ceremony, the newly appointed President of the Bar Association assured that he and the BASL organization will continue to work independently, free from any and all political affiliations.
Advocate Kausalya Navaratna was sworn in at BASL’s 49th convocation ceremony held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) yesterday, and Attorney General Sanjaya Rajaratnam also attended the event.
Navratne, Former BASL President Barrister Saliya Peiris, B.C.’s tenure expired on 24th.
Marking the end of his term as the 26th PASL president, Peiris urged the legal profession to “stand tough” for the principles at its heart and speak up to “protect the rights enshrined in the Constitution.”
