What is Kon Yashwant Pansare about?
Once a formidable advocate, Yashwant Pansare has been reduced to working as a notary following a devastating failure that leaves him consumed by guilt and self-doubt. His life takes an unexpected turn when Sadashiv Mapari, an elderly father, sets himself on fire outside the court, alleging that the system has failed to act on the disappearance of his daughter, Alka. Shaken by the desperate act, Pansare returns to the courtroom and files a Public Interest Litigation, with Janhavi, a fearless young lawyer who challenges conventional professional norms, joining him in the fight.
What begins as a missing-person case soon unravels into a complex web of police records, questions surrounding mental illness, concealed evidence, and powerful political interests. As the matter escalates into a high-stakes Habeas Corpus hearing, Pansare finds himself up against formidable opposition, including Public Prosecutor Sarda, while every new revelation forces the court and those involved to question what they believe to be the truth. For Pansare, the search for Alka becomes more than a legal battle; it becomes an opportunity to confront his past, reclaim his voice, and find redemption through the fight for justice.
