“Crazy Kalyanam Is a Crazy Family Entertainer That Everyone Can Enjoy This Festive Season” – Anupama Parameswaran
“Navarasa Raya” Dr. Naresh Vijaya Krishna, Anupama Parameswaran, Tharun Bhascker, and Akhil Uddemari of Raju Weds Rambai fame play the lead roles in the film “Crazy Kalyanam.” The film is being produced by passionate producer Boosam Jagan Mohan Reddy under the Arrow Cinemas banner as Production No. 2 and is directed by Badhrappa Gajula. Releasing worldwide in theatres on October 16 for the Dasara festival, the film promises to be a festive entertainer. In a recent interview, heroine Anupama Parameswaran shared the highlights of the movie.
– We initially considered a different working title for Crazy Kalyanam. However, throughout the process of making the film, everything felt crazy, and that is how our director came up with the title Crazy Kalyanam. It is a story filled with fun and emotion. Once actors like Naresh garu, Akhil, and Tharun Bhascker joined the cast, the project became even crazier. I have been involved in intense promotions for this film. Since I am personally happy with the project, I have been enjoying the promotional activities as well. Without a crazy producer like Jagan Mohan Reddy, this film would not have reached audiences in such a wonderful way.
– You will have to watch the film to find out whether I get married or not in Crazy Kalyanam. Unlike what happens in the film, there is absolutely no pressure on me at home regarding marriage. My family always tells me to get married whenever I feel ready. Personally, I want to have a baby before getting married. At weddings in Kerala, the food served is entirely vegetarian. However, I got to experience a new culture through Telangana weddings. In Kerala, new traditions such as haldi and mehendi ceremonies are now becoming part of weddings, whereas earlier, we used to have only two functions: the engagement and the wedding.
– All the characters in Crazy Kalyanam are struggling with something. What feels like a hardship to our characters may appear funny to you. Comedy emerges organically through our characters and the situations they find themselves in. When Badhrappa came to narrate the script, I could see his sincerity and conviction as a director. As he narrated the story, there were moments when I laughed and others when I became emotional. He narrated the complete script, including the character of Balaraju. I liked both the script and Badhrappa’s genuine approach as a filmmaker, which is why I agreed to do the film. The character of Balaraju, played by Tharun Bhascker, is someone we can all relate to. He is a person we encounter in our everyday lives, and the character has a lot of humour. Even our director and producer resemble Balaraju to some extent.
– Once our characters are introduced in the story, the central point concerning marriage comes into focus. It does not take much time for audiences to get drawn into the narrative. Marriage is meant for two people to live happily together, not to turn a woman into a domestic worker at home. That is what my character Keerthi believes, and it is my personal opinion as well. That is why we included the dialogue in the trailer, “If I cook, you should wash the dishes.” Akhil is a talented actor. There is emotional honesty in his performance, and his emotions never feel artificial. There is a spark in his eyes. All these qualities were essential for the character of Uday. Keerthi is a strict character, while Uday supports her and balances her personality. That is also the central conflict in the story. To bring out Uday’s personality amid all these characters, the actor needed to convey emotional honesty. Akhil delivered exactly that kind of performance.
– There are some projects where we have little opportunity to express our thoughts. We simply perform the character given to us and move on. But films like Crazy Kalyanam provide the space to share our opinions, discuss ideas, and collaborate. I shared my thoughts with director Badhrappa. Naresh garu, Akhil, Tharun, and the rest of us also discussed scenes together while working on our performances. We made these efforts to make the scenes better. I speak in the Telangana dialect in this film. Although I did not attend any special workshops to learn the dialect, I observed the way the director spoke and delivered my dialogues accordingly.
– Working with a senior actor like Naresh garu is always inspiring. His passion for acting inspired me greatly. We are confident that we have made a good film with Crazy Kalyanam. My parents watched the film and praised it, saying that it was very good. Even though they do not know Telugu, they connected with the emotions in the film. Audiences will feel as though they are watching a story from their own homes. The film will give you the feeling of having watched a crazy, entertaining movie during the festive season.
– As an actress, I always try to be versatile. I do not want audiences to feel that all my films are alike. I want people to identify a film by remembering my character. That is why I choose projects in which my characters are distinctive. The role of Keerthi in Crazy Kalyanam is also special and will remain memorable to audiences. I do not want to act merely for money. My passion for trying something new should be what drives me. I am currently working on a series of films in Tamil and Malayalam, and each of them is completely different from the others.
