MCX and NISM Sign MOU to Establish “MCX-NISM Center for Commodity Markets”
During the Global Commodity Conclave 2026, the Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX) and the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the “MCX-NISM Center for Commodity Markets.” This specialized platform aims to strengthen professional skills, research, and responsible participation within India’s commodity markets.
Center Objectives and Infrastructure:
Located at the NISM campus, the center bridges MCX’s industry and market expertise with NISM’s academic infrastructure and research capabilities. As India’s commodity markets modernize and integrate globally, this initiative is designed to address the growing demand for specialized skills, targeted research, and enhanced market awareness.
Core Focus Areas and Programs:
The center’s primary activities center on capacity building, professional development, applied research, investor education, and academic collaboration. Its programs cater to market participants, corporates, investors, and the wider academic community by prioritizing practical knowledge and data-driven insights.
Key educational initiatives include raising awareness about commodity derivatives and explaining their role in managing market risks. Training programs cover multiple areas such as hedging, corporate risk management, ethical behavior, compliance, and proper market practices. Additionally, the center conducts research to formulate policy and white papers while supporting human resource development through faculty development programs, doctoral fellowships, visiting scholar initiatives, and academic symposia.
MCX’s Role and Contributions:
Leveraging its domain expertise, MCX contributes to content development, pedagogical design, and assessment creation. This collaboration helps translate real-world market knowledge into structured learning programs that deliver clear, practical results.
