Hyundai and GoSports Foundation Open Applications for Samarth Para Sports Programme 2026–27
Hyundai: The Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), in collaboration with the GoSports Foundation, has officially opened applications for the 2026–27 cycle of the Samarth Para Sports Programme. Now entering its third year, this initiative is dedicated to providing high-performance support, holistic development, and essential resources to India’s rising Para athletes. Since its launch in 2023, the programme has become a cornerstone for athlete development in the country. To date, supported athletes have collectively secured 114 medals including 52 gold, 26 silver, and 36 bronze across national and international stages. Notably, four athletes from the programme proudly represented India at the 2024 Paralympics, underscoring the initiative’s success in cultivating elite-level talent.
Supporting Future Champions:
Mr. Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO of Hyundai Motor India Limited, highlighted the programme’s commitment to inclusivity, stating, “Our focus remains on nurturing future champions and contributing meaningfully to India’s growing Para sports movement.” Echoing this sentiment, Mr. Saugato Banerjee, CEO of the GoSports Foundation, emphasized the importance of high-performance interventions, noting that the positive impact of timely, athlete-centric support systems on performance, confidence, and long-term development has been substantial. The programme has successfully facilitated breakthroughs for athletes like Yash Kumar, the first Indian male Para canoeist at the Paralympics, and Bhavik Bharwad, who has secured multiple international gold medals.
Programme Scope and Application Details:
The upcoming 2026–27 cycle is specifically seeking applications from athletes competing in four key disciplines: Para Archery, Para Athletics, Para Badminton, and Para Canoe. To be eligible, applicants must hold a valid National (National Paralympic Committee) Classification, be at least 16 years of age, and be Indian residents. Additionally, candidates must have achieved at least one top-3 finish in a National Championship since 2023. The application window is open from June 19, 2026, to June 30, 2026.

The Samarth Para Sports Programme is designed to go beyond financial aid. It offers a structured support system that includes expert sports science guidance, access to necessary assistive devices, soft skill development, and mentorship from renowned coaches and industry experts. By providing this multifaceted support, the initiative continues to bridge the gap between aspiring talent and international excellence, helping India’s Para athletes compete on the world stage with confidence.
