BITS Pilani WILP Convocation 2026 Confers Degrees to Record 15,153 Working Professionals
BITS Pilani’s Work Integrated Learning Programmes (WILP) held its Convocation 2026 at the Hyderabad campus, marking a historic milestone by conferring degrees to a record 15,153 working professionals across 30 specialized disciplines. The cohort doubled in size compared to the previous year and participated through a ‘phygital’ graduation format that combined the physical venue with a custom Metaverse stage.
The ceremony was presided over by Chief Guest Mr. Atul B. Lall, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Dixon Technologies, alongside BITS Pilani Vice Chancellor Prof. V. Ramgopal Rao and Prof. S. Gurunarayanan, Director-in-Charge for Off-Campus Programmes and Industry Engagement. In his address, Chancellor Dr. Kumar Mangalam Birla emphasized that India stands at a pivotal economic juncture, noting that continuous professional academic enhancement compounds national productivity and drives technological sovereignty.
The graduating cohort demonstrated notable diversity and representation across critical sectors of the economy:
Sector Breakdown: Technology and digital domains comprised 46% of the graduating class, while 35% represented critical engineering, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors.
Diverse Learners: The milestone cohort included over 2,000 women professionals, 167 medical doctors, 60 defense personnel, and over 80 international learners spanning 15 nations.
With nearly five decades of academic leadership, BITS Pilani WILP currently engages over 51,000 enrolled learners and supports a global alumni network exceeding 1.5 lakh professionals across 32 countries.
