Ashok Leyland and IIT Madras Launch Nationwide ‘GET ZET’ Electric Truck Drive
Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship of the Hinduja Group and a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, has teamed up with the Centre of Excellence for Zero Emission Trucking (CoEZET) at IIT Madras to launch the nationwide ‘GET ZET – Electric Truck Awareness to Acceptance’ initiative from Chennai. Scheduled to run from September 2026 to February 2027 across 40 cities, the campaign aims to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission freight transportation by engaging logistics hubs and industrial corridors across 15 states and Delhi.
Stakeholder Engagement and Ecosystem Showcase:
The multi-city drive brings together diverse commercial vehicle stakeholders including fleet owners, logistics operators, financiers, load providers, infrastructure partners, policymakers, and industry experts. Through interactive awareness sessions, trial rides, and live demonstrations, participants can experience Ashok Leyland’s latest e-mobility solutions. Notably, the BOSS Electric truck alongside its charger setup is being showcased to give attendees first-hand exposure to the complete electric commercial vehicle ecosystem.
Leadership Perspectives on Zero-Emission Goals:
Shenu Agarwal, MD & CEO of Ashok Leyland, emphasized that user confidence is vital for scaling zero-emission mobility, noting that bringing the technology directly to users makes practical adoption more accessible for India’s future freight ecosystem. Prof. Manu Santhanam, Dean (ICSR) at IIT Madras, highlighted that CoEZET has actively worked toward achieving 100% zero-emission truck penetration by Viksit Bharat 2047, focusing on hands-on trials to address driver concerns and strengthen industry acceptance.
