Tata Motors Lucknow Plant Celebrates Production Milestone of 10 Lakh Commercial Vehicles

LUCKNOW : Tata Motors, the leading force in India’s commercial vehicle sector, achieved a historic landmark today with the rollout of its 1,000,000th (10th lakh) vehicle from its Lucknow manufacturing facility. This achievement marks over 35 years of the company’s industrial presence in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting its significant contributions to economic growth, skilled employment, and the evolution of the Indian automotive landscape.

A Milestone for Green Mobility:
The celebratory vehicle—a state-of-the-art, zero-emission electric bus—symbolizes the alignment between Tata Motors and the Government of Uttar Pradesh toward a sustainable future. The rollout was officially flagged off by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, alongside senior government officials and Tata Motors leadership.

The event emphasized a shared vision: Uttar Pradesh’s goal of a net-zero 2070 and Tata Motors’ ambitious target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045.

“The production of 10 lakh trucks and buses from this facility is a moment of immense pride,” stated Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “It reinforces our state’s potential as a premier destination for large-scale manufacturing and supports our journey toward becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy.”

Engineering Excellence and Innovation:
Established in 1992, the Lucknow plant has transitioned into a high-tech manufacturing powerhouse spanning 600 acres. It is capable of producing more than one lakh vehicles annually, serving both domestic and international markets.

Diverse Powertrains: The facility produces a wide range of vehicles, including next-generation electric buses, trucks, and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEVs).

Sustainable Operations: The plant is a CII-certified water-positive site, operating entirely on 100% renewable electricity.

Advanced Technology: Using Industry 4.0 standards, the plant integrates AI, robotics, and automated systems to maintain world-class safety and quality.

Fostering Inclusion and Skill Development:
At the core of the Lucknow facility is a commitment to social progress. The plant currently supports over 8,000 livelihoods and has become a model for workplace diversity. Women represent a significant portion of the workforce, and the facility has expanded opportunities for People with Disabilities (PwD).

Tata Motors also continues to invest in the region’s youth through its “Earn and Learn” initiatives—Kaushalya, Lakshya, and Saksham. These programs utilize a Dual System of Training (DST) to provide thousands of young people with the technical skills required for modern industrial careers.

A Strong Partnership for the Future:
Mr. N. Chandrasekaran reflected on the long-standing collaboration with the state, noting that the production milestone is a testament to how industry and government can work together to create scale and opportunity. As India’s mobility sector shifts toward smarter and cleaner solutions, the Lucknow facility is positioned to remain at the forefront of this transformation.
