HYDERABAD : In a monumental boost to regional healthcare, Dr. Abburi Vidyasagar, the Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of Avantel Limited, has pledged 60 lakh equity shares of his company to the Lakshmee Foundation. Currently valued at approximately ₹90 crore, this philanthropic contribution is set to fundamentally strengthen healthcare infrastructure across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The donation is earmarked for the development of a sophisticated multi-specialty healthcare ecosystem in Vijayawada. This expansion aims to bridge the gap in medical accessibility for underserved communities by providing high-end facilities in surgery, cardiac care, emergency medicine, intensive care, and women and child health.
A Legacy of Giving:
Guided by the humble philosophy, “A little bit for yourself, and everything for others,” Dr. Vidyasagar has long used his enterprise to drive social change. This latest contribution follows a significant donation in 2024, where he provided 45 lakh shares valued at ₹76.44 crore to support hospital operations and outreach.
“Access to quality healthcare continues to remain out of reach for many families,” said Dr. Abburi Vidyasagar. “Through this contribution, we hope to strengthen long-term healthcare infrastructure and support initiatives that create lasting community impact.”
Impact and Transformation:
Established in 2010 to honor the memory of the Late Smt. Abburi Lakshmeekantham, the Lakshmee Foundation has evolved from a modest polyclinic into a vital healthcare lifeline. Over the last sixteen years, its reach has expanded across several pillars:
Proven Track Record: Provided care to nearly 60,000 people in the last three years.
Daily Support: Operates a multi-specialty hospital serving roughly 90 patients every day.
Community Reach: Impacted over 99,000 lives through medical camps, cataract surgeries, and livelihood programs.
Scaling for the Future:
The centerpiece of this new funding is a planned 150+ bed multi-specialty facility. This expansion is designed to be a one-stop destination for diagnostics, long-term treatment, and critical care. By centralizing advanced medical services under one roof, the Foundation seeks to meet the escalating demand for affordable, high-quality treatment in the twin states, ensuring that patients no longer have to travel vast distances for life-saving care.
