On Monday, the Chief Minster conducted the weekly review meeting on Polavaram, that commenced with a virtual inspection through a live feed from cameras on site.
He expressed his satisfaction over the progress of Polavaram this week, since they completed setting 19,266 cubic metres of concrete, with a daily progress of almost 2752 cubic metres.
“14 levels of almost all the 52 blocks of the project are completed”, reported Chief Engineer Ramesh. “Completing 16 levels is going to be an important milestone for the Polavaram project, which is necessary to avoid any damage due to floods.”
All the equipment and necessary concrete has reached the site, and the progress of construction has been better this week, considering that it has been raining continuously.
The speed and efficiency of labour should increase to 6000 cubic metres per day. The Chief Minister said that the aim is to complete 2 lakh cubic metres of concrete by the end of next month.
Engineer-in-ChiefVenkateswara Rao explained to the Chief Minister that the cooling plant will be ready in another two weeks which enable the completion of 6000 cubic metres per day.
Mr. Mike from the joint venture of L&T and Bauer, presented the plan to construct a diaphragm wall, and emphasized that this will be completed by May 2018, the deadline that had been given by CM Naidu.
