APEDB signs MoU at World Food India 2017

Mr. J. Krishna Kishore CEO Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) is attending the World Food India 2017 from November 3-5 in Delhi along with the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Nara Chandrababu Naidu and other ministers from the state of Andhra Pradesh and representation from across India.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated World Food India 201today laying emphasis on how India is among the most preferred global destinations for food processing with immense opportunities.

Investment in the food processing sector in India is on an upward trajectory and Andhra Pradesh leads in transforming the food economy by leveraging opportunities along the food chain value. To reitterate APEDB's commitment Singapore Amaravati Investment Holdings and German Agribusiness Alliance collaborated to develop Andhra Pradesh’s food and agriculture supply chain.

Singapore Amaravati Investment Holdings Pvt Ltd (“SAIH”), a joint venture company comprising Ascendas-Singbridge and Sembcorp Development, the German Agribusiness Alliance at German Asia-Pacific Business Association (“OAV”), and the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (“AP EDB”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) today to establish a taskforce to support Andhra Pradesh in its development of the food and agriculture sectors.

In line with the government’s goal to develop Andhra Pradesh into an advanced agricultural state in the country, the MoU will focus on two key objectives:

  • Form a Joint Taskforce, which shall, within one year, systematically identify up to three agri-products for the establishment of suitable industries and draw up actionable plans to achieve this
  • Develop strategies, policies and plans to enable collaboration among private and public participants in Andhra Pradesh, Germany and Singapore for the promotion of technology, trade, business co-operation and investments in the food and agriculture sectors in Andhra Pradesh.
